Nothing beats touring the inner sanctum of an iconic building like The Tasman, and being let loose with a camera.

The place is a real mix of Hobart’s past and present. You’ve got the thick sandstone walls of the old Georgian buildings, a bit of Art Deco character tucked in there too, and then these sharp modern lines that catch the light in completely different ways. 

I just love all the sandstone in this place, the way it runs through hidden hallways, down into the old cellars, and around warm little bars. Everywhere you look there’s another detail, another angle.

The mix of old and new architecture makes it a bit of a playground with the camera. One moment you’re framing a heavy sandstone wall, the next you’re lining up clean modern lines of glass. It’s the contrast that makes it fun.
